Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 20, 2026

Android Texter ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Android Texter mobile application and the androidtexter.com website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name and email address through Google OAuth sign-in.

SMS & MMS Messages

When Android Texter is set as your default SMS application, we receive and process SMS and MMS messages on your device. Message content is transmitted to our servers via encrypted HTTPS connections to enable cloud sync and web dashboard access. Messages are stored securely and associated with your account.

Device Information

We collect device identifiers, phone number, battery level, and connection status for paired Android devices. This information is used to manage device connectivity and message routing.

Contacts

With your permission, we access your device contacts to display contact names in conversations. Contact data is synced to our servers to enable the web dashboard experience.

Usage Data

We collect anonymous usage analytics including message counts, feature usage, and app performance metrics to improve our service.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain our SMS/MMS messaging service
  • To sync messages between your phone and web dashboard
  • To deliver incoming message notifications
  • To process scheduled messages
  • To manage your account and subscription
  • To provide customer support
  • To improve and optimize our service

3. Data Storage & Security

All data is transmitted using TLS/HTTPS encryption. Your data is stored on secure servers with access controls and encryption at rest. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of your personal information.

4. Email Communications & Marketing

We may send you two categories of email:

  • Transactional emails — account-related messages such as sign-up confirmation, security notifications, billing receipts, password changes, and other communications necessary to operate your account. These are sent regardless of your marketing preferences because they are required to provide the service.
  • Marketing emails — product updates, activation guidance, upgrade offers, and re-engagement messages. We only send these to users who have explicitly opted in. You can change your preference at any time in Settings → Email Preferences, or click the “Unsubscribe” link in any marketing email.

Every marketing email contains a one-click unsubscribe link that does not require sign-in. We honor opt-out requests immediately and retain a timestamped record of your consent state for compliance purposes (US CAN-SPAM Act § 7704; EU GDPR Article 7).

We use Mailgun to deliver email. Mailgun processes only the data necessary to send your email (your email address, the message content, and delivery metadata). Their privacy policy is available at mailgun.com/legal/privacy-policy.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Google OAuth — for secure authentication
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging — for push notifications to your device
  • Stripe — for subscription payment processing (we do not store credit card information)

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing the use of your information.

6. Data Retention

Active accounts: messages, contacts, and account data are retained for as long as your account is active.

Inactive accounts: if you do not log in for 60 days, you will receive a warning email. At 90 days of inactivity, your account is soft-deleted (marked as deleted but recoverable if you log in within 30 more days). At 120 days of inactivity, the account and all associated personal data are permanently deleted from our active database. Aggregate, non-identifying analytics may be retained.

You may request immediate deletion of your data at any time by emailing [email protected] from the address on file. Upon request, all identifiable data is removed within 30 days.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Export your message data
  • Withdraw consent for data processing
  • Opt out of non-essential communications

8. SMS Permissions

Android Texter requires SMS permissions because it functions as your default SMS/MMS messaging application. These permissions are used exclusively for:

  • Sending and receiving SMS and MMS messages
  • Reading message history to display conversations
  • Delivering incoming messages and notifications

We do not use SMS permissions for advertising, marketing, or any purpose unrelated to the core messaging functionality of the app.

9. Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
